Nintendo is going after the individual behind last year's enormous Pokemon leak.

It is attempting to coerce Discord into disclosing the user's identify.

According to Polygon, Nintendo is looking for the leaker who caused last year's enormous Pokémon data breach. The corporation has sought a California court to order Discord to reveal the identify of the individual responsible for the breach, known on the platform as "GameFreakOUT."

Nintendo wants Discord to provide the leaker's identity, address, phone number, and email address. According to the subpoena, the suspect posted "secret materials not released to the public" to the Discord server FreakLeak. The leaked materials quickly spread around the Internet.

These data contained source codes, early character designs, references to prospective MMOs, and design meeting transcripts. There was even talk of an unpublished Detective Pikachu sequel and other planned Pokémon movies. The data breach contained so much information that it became known as the "Teraleak" on the internet, referring to the enormous volume and extent of the disclosed materials.

As of this writing, Discord has not officially responded to the request. We have contacted the company and will update this story if we hear back. If the platform complies with Nintendo's request, "GameFreakOUT" is likely to face legal action.

Nintendo has already taken legal action in response to Pokémon leaks. This occurred when photographs of a Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield strategy guide were posted online prior to the games' release. The defendants in that case were each ordered to pay $150,000 in damages and attorney's costs.
